I downloaded Legend of Gladiator because I wanted to remember my young days and play something similar to Swords and Sandals. What I got instead was an idle cash machine wearing Roman armor. Skip it - and here is exactly why.
The game drops you into a village, or an arena, or… some environment, with zero explanation. No pop-up, no tutorial, nothing. You work out on your own that the way to earn money is to walk up to your training partner and punch him. The game’s whole attitude is “yeah, go ahead, smack him.”
So I did. I built a pure destroyer - every coin into damage and critical chance, nothing into defense. Turns out that is not really a build choice, it is the only sane way to play. There is no reason to touch dodge or evasion in this game. Bonk damage, move on.
My opponents, by the way, were not other gladiators. Roman armor on my side, modern-day miners, chefs and farmers on the other. A baker came at me with a rolling pin and a cleaver. I would call it charming if I believed it was on purpose.

The shop is a loot box and the price is $105
There is no proper gear shop. Want gear? Open a mystery box. One box costs you an ad. Ten boxes cost 100 gems. That is the entire economy.
And the ads do not stop at the boxes. Rewarded ads I can forgive - they are optional, fine. But there is also a Google banner sitting permanently under the gameplay buttons, one misclick away at all times. The crown on top is the premium subscription: 104,99 EUR a year (about $105), or 27,99 EUR a month. For an idle clicker about a gladiator punching a chef.
Smacking enemies fills a rage meter - or some barely explained power bar - that boosts your damage. Every hit pays coins, and at some point a golden carriage rolls up to collect. That moment was genuinely fun. It was also the only one.
Who should play it
Someone who wants a zero-thought bonk loop and does not mind an ad under their thumb the whole time. Everyone else: your Swords and Sandals nostalgia deserves better. I gave it 40 minutes, and that was plenty.
