Medieval Idle Prayer hands you Giovanni: barefoot, dressed in rags, praying in the rain with a castle sitting behind him. Keep tapping and he ends up in purple silk in the middle of town, with a wife, a baby and a flying pig drifting past his head. This game turns prayer into raw economic power, and whoever came up with that had to be on something. I love it.

You click, you pray, you get holier

The core loop is classic idle. Click to generate faith, spend the faith on upgrades, let the upgrades earn while you are doing something else. You start with a horse, a cat, a goat, a hat and a tower producing income for you. Then a wife shows up. Then a baby. Then you unlock more holy power and run the whole thing again, holier and richer than before.

Running alongside that is a Holiness ladder, taking you from Novice to Monk to Deacon, and every rung has a quote from Seneca or Heraclitus stapled to it. Small touch. It has no business being as charming as it is.

The art is doing a lot of the work

The graphics are genuinely unique: rough, hand drawn, straight out of a medieval manuscript, and the game never breaks character. Rabbits stand around holding spears. A sun with a face watches you tap.

The music is peaceful for most of it, and then a medieval Mexican concert event goes off. Just when I thought it could not get weirder, a stray cat parade strolled across the screen mid-click. Why? Who knows. Holy chaos.

There is a ton of love in the little details. I keep saying it because it is the actual reason to install this thing.

Where it drags

The sense of progress is not that fast, even early on. After a while you are mostly watching bars fill, and a few of the juicier rewards sit behind ads.

The good news is that you can still progress without paying and without watching ads non-stop. The ads are there to speed you up, not to hold the game hostage.

Worth installing?

If you want a clicker that respects your time, this is not the one. If you want a clicker with a personality, install it. Medieval Idle Prayer is one of the more unique idle games out there. It has got charm, it has got style, and it has got Giovanni.
